In the past 4 years, I’ve cut my teeth strategizing & writing award-worthy, revenue-increasing, results-snatching copy. And what really lights my fire is writing for woman-owned and BIPOC-led brands. I’m talkin’ the first day after a braiding appointment type of excited! Energizing them to go big with their bold ideas so that when launch time happens, the world thinks “OMG FINALLY, I’ve been waiting for something like this.” And giving them the tools to diversify the market.
If you walked out of the house wearing 47 hats, you’d look ridiculous. And yet, here you are, wearing all the hats in your business—and while you’re impressive, it isn’t a good look, babes. It’s time to take one of those hats off, and pass it off to me. In this post, I’m going to share easy-to-customize copywriting templates you can use for your website and offer promotion ⬇️.

What will actually matter to your reader, and what can you leave out of your bio?
Use simple, non-jargony language
Keep it short and sweet
Be real, not plastic

How to Make These Copywriting Templates You-Coded
Templates are meant to be your starting point, not your finish line. The magic happens when you take these frameworks and infuse them with your unique personality, expertise, and way of connecting with your audience. So let’s turn those copywriting templates into copy that’s you-coded.
Inject Your Personality Into Every Template
Your personality is your “it” factor—you can stand out by letting your real voice shine through.
If you’re naturally conversational and casual:
Replace formal phrases like “We are pleased to announce” with “Here’s what’s exciting…”
Use contractions anywhere you can (don’t, won’t, can’t, here’s)
Add brackets around side thoughts (you know, like this, as if you’re in Fleabag, speaking directly to camera) that feel like you’re talking directly to them
Use phrases you actually say in real life
If you’re more professional but warm:
Use “you” language instead of “clients” or “customers”
Replace jargon with everyday words
Add personal insights: “In my 10 years of experience, I’ve noticed…”
More of a direct, no-nonsense type? Then:
Cut the fluff words like “really,” “very,” “quite,” and “just”
Lead with facts and results
Use shorter sentences that pack a punch
Replace wishy-washy language (“might help”) with confident statements (“will transform”)
If you’re quirky and creative:
Use unexpected metaphors that relate to your industry (just check my IG captions, I do this ALL the time)
Use pop culture references your audience will get
Play with formatting (em dashes, ellipses, italics for emphasis—and no, em-dashes are NOT a sign you’re using AI)
Don’t be afraid of sentence fragments. They work.
Consider the Culture
If your audience spans different countries, cultures, or social groups, adjusting your language can make your templates feel more inclusive and relevant:
American English vs. British English:
“Customize” vs. “Customise”
“Realize” vs. “Realise”
“Mom” vs. “Mum”
“Vacation” vs. “Holiday”
Cultural References:
Avoid idioms that don’t translate—”hitting a home run” means nothing to non-baseball cultures
Be mindful of seasonal references— Thanksgiving in Canada vs. the U.S.
Consider different business cultures (some prefer more formal language, others want directness)
Universal Language Tips:
Use simple, clear language over complex phrases
Don’t make cultural assumptions about family structures, holidays, or lifestyle
Have diverse examples in your brand graphics, target audience examples, and testimonials
Test your copy with people from different backgrounds
A/B Test Your Customized Templates
Once you’ve customized your copywriting templates, the real learning begins. Here’s how to test what resonates with your specific audience:
Take your email template and test 2-3 different subject lines and openings
Test different levels of personality in your hero sectio headlines
Test your CTAs—from generic to the personality-rich
What to Track:
Open rates (for subject lines)
Click-through rates (for CTAs and links)
Time on page (engagement with your personality)
Conversion rates (the ultimate test)
Unsubscribe rates
Quick Personality Injection Checklist
Before you publish any customized template, run through this checklist:
Does this sound like something I’d say in a conversation? If not, keep tweaking.
Have I used at least 2-3 words or phrases that are me-coded? Your signature phrases, fave analogies, or industry insights.
Am I speaking directly to my ideal client? Use their language, reference their specific situation.
Does my personality come through without overwhelming the message? You want to be memorable, not distracting.
Would someone who knows me recognize this as my writing? If a friend read this without seeing your name, would they know it was you?
Am I being authentic or performative? There’s a difference between sharing your personality and putting on a show.
The goal isn’t to reinvent the wheel with every piece of copy you write. It’s to take these proven templates and make them unmistakably yours.
The best template in the world won’t convert if it doesn’t feel authentic to who you are and how you serve your clients. Start with the structure, then make it yours.
